I was asked to share the last five photographs from our camera roll. So here they are.
It’s an interesting exercise. We didn’t select these photographs to represent our life. They just happen to be the last five we took. But perhaps they reveal more about us than we intended.
There’s sailing on Pittwater, a colourful lunch, our dog looking very pleased with herself at a café, a striking portrait from the Art Gallery of NSW, and a blue heron standing alone on the beach.
Nothing particularly remarkable. Just things that caught our attention.
But looking at them together, we can see recurring themes. We love being outdoors, particularly near the water. We enjoy good food. Our dog features prominently in our life. We’re drawn to art and the stories it tells. And we find endless pleasure in observing the natural world. Just five ordinary moments that seemed worth recording.
Perhaps that’s what makes this little exercise interesting. Our photographs are an accidental autobiography. They don’t necessarily reveal what we’ve achieved or where we’ve been, but they do reveal what we consider worth noticing.
