The Scattered Ones – 1 Peter 2:1–10

We are the scattered ones,
the misunderstood,
the displaced and disoriented—
but not forgotten.

Peter writes to name us,
to steady us
in a world that shakes.
He reminds us who we are.

We are newborn,
lungs still learning to breathe grace,
mouths open,
hungry for the milk
that gives life—
God’s word,
pure and undiluted.
We crave it like infants
in the quiet hours,
wailing until fed.
Without it,
we starve.
With it,
we grow.

We are stones,
but not cold ones.
Living stones,
fitted and shaped
by the Master Builder’s hand,
joined to one another
into something unseen but eternal.
Not a chapel of stone,
but a temple of hearts—
each one bearing
the echo of Christ,
our cornerstone.

We are precious,
worth more than jewels lifted from the Louvre,
more than all the treasures men might steal.
We are chosen—
a royal priesthood,
a holy nation
not bound by borders or flags
but by mercy.

Once nameless,
now called beloved.
Once wandering in darkness,
now walking in marvellous light.
Once mercy was a word we did not know,
now it is the air we breathe.
